Objective

  • Each tenured and tenure-track faculty member will attend a minimum of one professional conference or professional development seminar per academic year in his/her teaching research area in a comparable activity.
  • Faculty member who have presented a paper at a scholarly conference or who have had major publications will be encouraged to present in the series.
  • We will design foundation courses that will give our students the literary, analytical, theoretical and writing skills that they will need in order to succeed in upper division English courses.
  • Students will demonstrate the ability to engage in comparative analysis of text.
  • Students will develop skills in identifying and analyzing phonological, morphological, lexical and syntactic structure of English.
  • Vision

    We seek to foster knowledge, a love of literature and of language to our students. To this end we will provide students in all emphasis areas with a coherent curricular framework and relevant, well-structured course choices. We will teach a variety of literary, analytical, pedagogical and theoretical skills and Inculcate students to speak, read and write effectively. We will encourage students to think deeply and to reflect on what they have learned and also a love of learning and an appreciation for a liberal education.

    Eligibility

    The eligibility criteria for a BA Course specify that candidates should have completed their 10 +2 from a recognized board. The duration of the courses three years and it is carrier oriented in nature that opens a greater scope for them after their completion. The subject deals in Literary Analysis, Prose, Poetry, Written in Oral Communication Skills and related disciplines.

    Employment Roles

    An English teacher is responsible for ensuring the students learn grammar, writing & reading comprehension. They are responsible for creating lesson plans that will teach students the skills they need. They also have to communicate to the parents of students.

    • On behalf of English Department more than 200 teak saplings were given to Alumni get benefited in the future and also to have reminisced of our college.
    • Department conducted ‘Film Show’ on ‘Shakespeare and his plays’ and also curriculum based Fiction & Drama.
    • Our students secured more than 80% of marks in the ‘Periyar University Examination’.
    • We motivated the students to participate in many inter collegiate competitions and they won prizes.
